Welcome

Your Name - Adult Counsellor

Welcome to Courageous Connections Therapeutic Counselling.

I’m Sylleita, a qualified therapeutic counsellor (MBACP) offering online counselling across the UK and in-person sessions in Herne Hill (SE24), South London.

Painful or harmful relationships can have a lasting impact, sometimes leaving feelings, thoughts and patterns that can feel difficult to change. I specialise in working with the impact of harmful relationships, including early childhood experiences, family relationships, intimate partner relationships, and experiences of sexual abuse, assault, and violence.

The ways we learn to protect ourselves often develop in response to painful experiences—and for very good reasons. These ways of coping may once have helped you survive, but they can continue to shape how you see yourself, others, and the world, even when they no longer fit your present-day life. You may find yourself believing that relationships, intimacy, success, or happiness are meant for other people, or that they are always just out of reach. Repeating patterns can feel unfulfilling, yet change may feel frightening or even unsafe.

Therapy can offer the opportunity to experience yourself differently—to develop greater self-understanding, more fulfilling relationships, and a way of living that feels more connected to who you are. Reaching out for counselling can take a great deal of courage. Starting therapy can bring uncertainty, and it's completely understandable to feel nervous about opening up to someone new. My aim is to offer a warm, accepting relationship in which lasting change can emerge at your own pace.

You may come to counselling with a particular difficulty, a sense that something doesn't feel right, or a wish to understand yourself and your experiences more fully. You don't need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. We can explore what brings you to counselling and whether working together feels like the right fit.

How I Can Help

Relationships

Explore challenges in relationships, recurring patterns and boundaries, and how past and present relationships may influence the way you see yourself and connect with others.

Anxiety & Stress

Support with overwhelming thoughts, worries and pressure, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your emotional experiences.

Loss & Change

A compassionate space to explore grief, endings and life changes, making sense of your experiences while allowing space for new possibilities to emerge.

Self-Esteem

Explore your sense of self and self-worth, understanding what has shaped you while developing a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

My Approach

My work integrates person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. Together, we'll explore how your past experiences and relationships may continue to influence the present, while making space for new understanding and ways of relating to yourself and others.

I recognise that aspects of our identities and lived experiences—including race, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, disability, class, faith, and culture—can shape how we experience ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. These experiences are not separate from therapy—they are part of who you are and are welcomed into our work together.

I also recognise that I bring my own identity into the therapeutic relationship, and I see it as my responsibility to remain curious, reflective, and attentive to how our similarities and differences may influence our work together.
